Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Jeep Commander

Today on our 2007 Jeep Commander, we have our Tow-Ready Trailer Wiring Kit, part number 118408. Now, what comes in our kit, we have our module that has our trailer plug on it, come over here, we've got our driver's side plug and play, it fits in there as a, "T," and we've got our passenger side, again it fits in there as a, "T," and we've got extra wire, because we'll be running it through our bumper back here. Also, a couple zip ties and our self tapping screw. That's for our ground wire on our module. On the back of our module, we have our sticky pad I put on already so that we're ready to stick it in place as soon as we're at that point. First thing we need to do, is we'll remove our 2 pins that holds the light in place. I've got my remover tool, if you don't have a remover tool, it looks like a Flathead will work just fine, you just got to be careful you don't break these pins, because we'll need to reuse them. more

Today on our 2006 Jeep Commander, we'll be installing the tow ready T1 connector wiring kit, part number 118408. To begin with, we'll go ahead and raise the rear hatch of the vehicle. We'll need to remove these two push fasteners from each side's light assembly so we can pull the light assembly out, where we'll make our connections. We'll go ahead and start here on the driver's side. Go ahead and remove the two push fasteners. Do this by using a flat head screw driving and a trim panel removal tool. With the two fasteners out, we can go ahead and pop the whole light assembly out. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Jeep Commander

Today on our 2008 Jeep Commander, we are installing the Tow-ready T1 connecter, part number 118408. To install our new fore pole we'll simply open up the rear cargo door and remove the two fasteners securing the driver's side tail light housing. We'll simply take a flat-bladed screwdriver and pry out on the center of the fastener and then remove it. Now you want to pop the rear tail light assembly out carefully. You may need to pry it gently but be careful not to break the alignment tabs underneath. Now with the drive's side rear tail light assembly removed, we can go ahead and press on the locking tab for the manufacturer's wiring connector and remove it. more
